Veneers are porcelain or composite (Quartz) coverings that improve the colour and shape of the tooth. A small amount of the tooth may be removed (approximately 0.5mm), an impression taken and a temporary veneer fitted while the technician makes the permanent porcelain veneer. The veneer is bonded to the tooth with a resin cement.
An alternative to the porcelain veneer is the composite veneer which can also last for years, stain free, and is fabricated by the dentist and fitted during one dental appointment.

Prior to fabrication a diagnostic mock-up in tooth coloured wax can be made. This is particularly useful where several teeth are involved,as you can get a better idea of how the end result will look.
If you are interested in improving the appearance of your teeth and smile with veneers then book an appointment so we can discuss your requirements and advise on the best way to achieve this.
The advantage of using composite as a material is that it costs less, is readily repairable and adjustable and does not require a second fitting appointment although a further review appointment can be beneficial.
